Blog 18.2.22

This week our story was Jack and the Beanstalk.  We had great fun pretending to be the giant in our castle role play area.

Our Rainbow Challenges this week have been related to the story:

Writing – Write a description of Jack or the giant

Maths – Order the numbered bean leaves

Funky Fingers – Thread some strings on a harp

Creative – Make a beanstalk collage using paper and cotton wool

Outdoor – Plant a bean

Playdough – Make boots for Jack and the giant

Yet again it was another fantastic week for getting challenges done.  Lots of children did all their Rainbow Challenges and their Gold Challenge.

This week was the last week of our RE about Special Places.  Today we found out about a mandir  which is a special place for Hindus.  We found out that they have a shrine which has special statues of different Hindu gods.  We also found out that Hindu’s like to sing and chant when they worship.

In maths this week Reception children have been learning about time and been making o’clock and half past on clocks.  The nursery children have been learning about shapes and have been measuring full and half full.  We have also used shapes to make some castle pictures.

When we come back after half term our new theme will be ‘Into the Woods’.  We will be hearing lots of stories that are set in woods and using some non-fiction books to find out about forests.   We have all decided that we want to hear ‘The Gruffalo’ as it is one of our favourite stories.
