3rd February 2019
Last week we took part in some NSPCC Number Day activities, in the form of a Festival of Triangles.  We had a good time exploring and using triangles for a range of different activities - from 3D models, tangrams and being angle detectives in Orca; to making kites and playing a trionimo number bond challenge in Puffin; and exploring triangles and having a teddy bears' picnic with triangular food in Starfish.  It was really lovely to see so many Puffin and Starfish parents coming along to join in the fun, and explore some maths together with their children.
As ever, the Parent Lunch was well attended on Tuesday.  We do love sharing our mealtime with family members.  Thank you again to Mandy for making such delicious food!
On Wednesday I went with the Year 4 children to a Skipping Festival at Willowburn in Alnwick.  We were there with children from 3 other schools, and it was lovely to see our children mixing with others and having fun whilst learning some new skills.
On Friday, despite the slightly snowy start, we still managed to get down to the beach.  We didn't actually feel as cold as we had on some occasions.  That said, we did all come back a little early in the afternoon, and finished our learning off in the classroom.  Look at our Beach School page to see what we got up to!
Next week we are taking part in Safer Internet Day.  The theme this year is 'Together for a Better Internet' and focuses on empowering young people to take control of their digital lives and consider how consent works in an online environment.  As part of our work with parents, I will also be hosting a Parent Workshop on Tuesday, from 4.45 pm, to help support parents negotiate their way through how to support their children using the internet.  All are more than welcome!
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year on Wednesday with a themed lunch of chicken chow mein and prawn crackers.  There will be no extra charge for this.
