23rd June 2019
What a busy week we had!

Orcas had a great day on Monday with Primary Enterprise, designing a house, and making sure all the right trades were organised; and then designing a new cake flavour for Mandell's Coffee Pot.  It was a good opportunity to think about some of the wide variety of jobs that everyone could do.

On Wednesday the Year 5s and 6s went to the Anne Frank exhibition at the High School.  It was the first time the Year 5s had been to the school, and was considered a success by all!

In the afternoon, thank goodness the rain stopped and we could do Sports Day.  It was lovely to see all the parents, grandparents and other family and friends there.  The children all did really well and showed off some of the wide array of sports skills they have been practising this year.  Well done to Blue Team for an excellent win!

On Thursday I took the Year 6s down to Newcastle Cathedral for the Diocese of Newcastle Leavers' Service.  There were children from all over Northumberland and Newcastle there, preparing for the next phase of their school lives - we really felt part of a much larger community (and we weren't the smallest school there!!)

This week is slightly less hectic for the children (although very hectic for the staff!)  The Year 3s and 4s are going to Brinkburn Priory for Lifepath on Tuesday; and the Y5s are back at the High School on Wednesday for a maths afternoon.

We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Heaton, Executive Head from St. Peter’s Elwick CofE & Hart Primary Schools on Thursday; and Mrs Warner, Assistant Director of Education, School Effectiveness at the Diocese, on Friday for Beach School.

Swimming on Thursday is for Years 1 to 6.  Those Key Stage 2 children (they know who they are!) who need to remember pyjamas - please don't forget!

On Sunday we are serving teas at the Fallodon Hall Open Garden afternoon.  If you are able to lend a hand for an hour or two please let Melissa know.  If not, it would still be lovely if you came to the Open Garden afternoon to support us - the weather looks like it will be perfect for a wander around the gardens, and a cup of tea and a cake.
