Remote Learning

Should a child have to self-isolate or the school be advised to fully or partially close for any reason, staff will endeavour, as soon as possible, to revert to remote learning for all affected children.  Please note that if your child is ill we will not expect your child to complete the work - just let us know!  Also please be aware that we will not provide you with work if you choose to go on holiday during term-time, as this absence will be unauthorised, but we will do so if your child is required to self-isolate as part of a quarantine on return.

We will provide access to a range of learning platforms to support learning, and have high expectations of the quantity and quality of work returned.  Our staff will be available during normal school hours to support children and parents individually if they are struggling with their work.  Initially this will be via the chat facility/comments on their learning platform, but it may then also progress to either a phone call or live video chat if necessary.

Orcas and Seals
All Orcas and Seals have been taught how to access Google Classroom where their learning plans will be hosted.  Pupils have been taught how to access assignments and quizzes and turn them in electronically.  They have been taught how to take a photograph of their work and upload it.

Orcas and Seals will be given daily work in accordance with their school timetable.  They will be expected to turn in all work for that day by 3.30 pm, in order for staff to mark and pick up on any issues.  All children are to complete the daily 'check-in' by 9 am on Google Classroom.  The expectation is that the children will take responsibility for their own learning and the vast majority will not require significant additional support from parents - their first port of call should be to message the teacher for help.

Work will take the form of a google meet live lesson; a short video or presentation of the 'teaching'; or written directions; together with appropriate links, documents and other activities to enhance the teaching.  Children will be required to complete assignments or quizzes, write comments, try experiments, complete practices or take photos of the work that they have completed.

It is expected that all children will use Timestable Rockstars daily for at least 15 minutes, and will read to an adult daily for at least 20 minutes (log on go-read app).  Other activities are as directed as part of the timetabled activities.  It is expected that all children will complete their weekly Big Maths test by 3.30 pm on Thursday each week.

Work set should take about 4 hours a day.

Mrs Scott and Miss Scott will read you part of a story each day for you to listen to.

Puffins
All Puffins parents will be able to access Google Classroom where their child will be given daily work in accordance with their school timetable.  All children are to complete the daily 'check-in' by 9 am on Google Classroom. They will be expected to turn in all work for that day by 3.30 pm, in order for staff to mark and pick up on any issues.  The expectation is that the parents will have to support their children in accessing the learning.  This will include taking photographs of their children's work and uploading them to Google Classroom.

Work will take the form of a google meet live lesson; short video or presentation of the 'teaching'; or written instructions; together with appropriate links, documents and other activities to enhance the teaching.  Children will be required to complete worksheets or quizzes, write in their books, try experiments, complete practices or take photos of the work that they have completed.

It is expected that all children will use Timestable Rockstars (Y2) or Numbots (Y1) daily for at least 15 minutes, will read to an adult daily for at least 10 minutes (log on go-read app) and will go on Reading Eggs for at least 15 minutes.  They are also expected to complete 15 minutes of handwriting practice each day.  Other activities are as directed as part of the timetabled activities. It is expected that all children will complete their weekly Big Maths test by 5 pm on Thursday each week.

Work set should take about 3.5 hours per day.

Miss Murray will read you part of a story each day for you to listen to.

Starfish
All activities for the week will be uploaded onto Tapestry.  It is expected that all Reception children complete all the learning tasks during the week, with pictures uploaded to Tapestry by parents.

It is expected that all Reception children will use Numbots daily for at least 10 minutes, will read to an adult daily for at least 10 minutes and will go on Reading Eggs for at least 10 minutes.  Other activities are as directed as part of the timetabled activities.  Read Write Inc phonics lessons will be conducted via live Zoom calls, or via videos.

Nursery children will be given a range of learning games and activities that you may choose to do.

Mrs Popay will read a new story each day for you to enjoy.

General
If any family has issues accessing online learning please speak to school as soon as possible as we may be able to access support.  If all else fails, we will provide paper copies of work that can be picked up from school (or will be delivered to those families where all are self-isolating).
