Early Years

Early Years at Embleton Primary caters for children from the term after their 3rd birthday.  We currently offer both the 15-hours universal free entitlement to all 3 and 4 year olds and the 30-hours funding to those families eligible.  Places need to be booked in advance and are booked for at least one term.  If you require additional sessions, these are available on a first-come, first-served basis, dependent upon availability, at a cost of £10 per half day session and can be booked up to 1 day in advance through the school office.

All children will be able to either take up places as a school day (08.40-3.10) or half day (08.40-12.00 or 12.00-3.10).

If needed, those in receipt of the 30-hours funding can use some of their entitlement beyond the school day (7.30-8.45 or 3.10-5.30).  Please speak to the office if you would be interested in accessing ‘wraparound’ childcare.  Equally, this service will be provided as fee-paying for those not eligible for funding.

We work in partnership with Swansfield Park Primary School in Alnwick to offer childcare for 3 and 4 year-olds when the school is closed using the TicToc Holiday Club.  We are able to split 30-hour funding across both settings if desired.

In our recent Ofsted inspection our Early Years  was graded as outstanding

'The early years class is a strength of the school. Children get off to a great start. They enjoy their learning because the curriculum reflects their interests. All children learn quickly through a mixture of direct teaching and play. Adults encourage children to explore new ideas and challenges. Children make sense of what they have learned through lots of imaginative activities. This is especially the case at the beach school.'  Ofsted March 2020
