Autumn 23 - EY's Heatherslaw Mill and Railway

As part of our harvest celebration and thinking about where food comes from Starfish class had a visit to Heatherslaw Mill to see how flour used to be made.  Unfortunately the miller was ill so we couldn't see the mill in action but we did have a good look at the equipment in the mill and went on a mouse hunt.  We saw the big waterwheel which makes the mill work and got to dress up in clothes that people used to wear when the mill was first built.
After our visit to the mill we went for a ride on Heatherslaw Light Railway.  We went up  to Etal Castle for our lunch and got the train back. We had a really good day!
