Starfish

Our story at the beach this week was ‘The Gingerbread Man’.  We chose the characters in the story and then Mrs Popay told the story with us joining in with ‘Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man’.  We then wrote about the story.

After the story we played a game of catch where we tried to catch the Gingerbread Man.  It was really fun and we all got a chance to be the Gingerbread Man.

Next we did some maths using the shapes that we have been using this week.  Mrs Popay and Mrs Cotton were really impressed that we could remember the names of the shapes and that the Reception children could remember lots about the properties of the shapes.  We then explored what happened when we pushed the shapes into the sand and buried them.

We then all had a gingerbread man to decorate.  When we had decorated our gingerbread men we took them all for a walk along the beach and in the dunes.

After lunch we spent the afternoon with Orca’s.  They helped us do some gingerbread men maths and then we worked together to make some sand castles.
