This year we really have been so lucky with the weather. Today began with worship on the waves with Mrs Popay the Orcas got straight into learning with listening to accounts of VE Day from those who were there we then wrote diary entries as if we were living it, we used some of the knowledge from yesterday including our understanding of party food on rations, to help us. We then used different materials and resources to make a union jack flag in teams.

Moving on we then listened to the next chapter of Goodnight Mr Tom, the children then moved to work in groups of four and began acting out part of the book with their team - we will revisit this next week as the story develops.

A quick lunch at the gold club and we were back down, we started our afternoon session with a relaxed guided meditation, Helen then shared her parachutes with us and we discussed the important roll of the parachuter during WW2, thinking what elements they would need to take into consideration, we also had a quick parachute competition - special mention to Rory and Raffi who managed get their parachute the furthest on both occasions and to Zach who also had an excellent technique.

Moving on we had an enjoyable game of rounders and then back up to school for Newsround!

Starfish

We read the story of Fidgety Fish by Ruth Galloway again this week.  We spoke about all things that Tiddler, the animals he met and what happened at the end.

After listening to the story, we wrote some words and sentences to describe what Fidgety Fish did. After our snack we made some cave mouths like the one that belonged to Big Fish that Tiddler swam into.  We used big shells for the eyes and found seaweed and shells for the cave entrance.

For our maths today we filled the giant Numicon with sandcastles and did some counting.  We then played a counting to ten circle game and the Reception children ordered number to twenty.

After lunch we went back to the beach and played some singing games and then went for a walk in the sand dunes.
