Headteacher's Message

As a very small school we foster a strong partnership approach between home and school to support individual learning, helping all children to fulfil their potential in all areas.  We believe it is vital that as parents/guardians you feel welcome in the school, and provide numerous opportunities for you to be involved in your children’s learning.

Embleton Vincent Edwards C of E Aided Primary school have hardworking, committed staff, with a very supportive and dedicated Governing Body.  Our Parent and Friends Association, Friends of Embleton School, is incredibly proactive, helping us with fundraising events.  All parents/guardians are encouraged to take part in organising or attending events.

As a C of E school, we belong to a cluster of local church primary schools, as well as the wider Alnwick Partnership of schools.  The children mix during joint sports and other planned activities, as well as events at the Duchess Community High School, to support transitions for the older children.

As a small school we are able to offer true personalised learning for all our children in a welcoming, family environment, where children of all ages regularly work and play together.  All Key Stage 2 children have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument, which this year is the pocket trumpet.  All children, from Year 1 to Year 6,  go swimming for 2 terms of the year, and have specialist football, dance and gymnastics instructors coming in to teach in the third term.

What makes us really special is that the whole school spends each Friday at Beach School.  We use our natural environment for a range of activities and lessons, at the same time fostering a love of nature and our local surroundings.  Please look at the Beach School tab above to see what we have been getting up to.  We have a bronze award as an Eco-School, and are working towards our silver award.  We are also working towards a Learning Outside the Classroom quality mark, as well as a School Games award.

We are a Thrive partner school, and a Stonewall Champion school, as well as working with My Mental Health Rocks - we are committed to supporting and developing mental health and wellbeing for the whole school community.

We offer after-school clubs each day.  The children vote on which clubs they would like to have each half-term.  This half-term the children have chosen Lego, sketching, board games, mindfulness and recorder.

We also offer a wraparound facility to all our children.  This service is available every day that the school is open - from 7.30 am until school starts; and from the end of school until 5.30 pm.

The school has an open door policy for new and existing parents, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you require a visit, information or have any queries.  If you would like paper copies of any information on the website, please ask at the office.
