Worship by the Waves 2.11.22

Today we thought about our hands and about all the things that we can do with them.  We then read a verse from one of the Psalms:

Psalm 90:17

May the beauty of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us –
    yes, establish the work of our hands.

We drew around our hands in the sand discussed that some things are easy with one hand but more of a challenge to do with the other one.   In some quiet time we thought of challenges that we are facing at the moment.

We listened to something written by St Teresa of Ávila 1515-1582 about hands.

Hands

Christ has no body but ours,
No hands, no feet on earth but ours,
Ours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Ours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Ours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Ours are the hands, ours are the feet,
ours are the eyes, we are his body.

Before we finished worship we spoke about what we could do with our hands that would help other people and be kind.  We sang ‘He’s got the whole world in his hand’ and ended with a prayer.
