Summer Term 1 Week 3

Week three of this half term, we’re working our way through Secrets of a Sun King. This week there has been a surprise letter from Professor Hanawati to Ezra, the children wrote a reply to Professor Hanawati.

In Maths we have begun exploring Algebra and being able to distinguish the different algebraic rules. The children have been given a calculator and have had to explain what mathematical rule it is following.

In History we discovered different Egyptian pyramids, the children then made their own pyramid factfiles. We then continued history with a link to our Design Technology subject, Orca class discovered the different foods regularly consumed by ancient Egyptians and the different table manners which they followed.

In Design Technology we have continued to discover different food combinations and complimentary flavours. This week, we have been developing our cutting skills, using different ingredients and making a small salad bowl and then adding a complimentary dressing. The children have planned their own menu looking at different flavours and which flavour compliments one and other.

If I could ask for all reading to be logged on Boom Read (Go Read) please, there is a requirement of reading and TTRS to be completed each week. If children have read 4 times in a week they also earn a 10 minute extra break time on a Thursday.

If you do require any support in this please let me know and I’d be happy to help.

This coming week is a short four day week with the following week being the start of the Year 6 SAT week.
