10th May 2024

Well what can I say about last week … what a fun packed week we had.

We started with an extra day off due to the Bank Holiday.

We were lucky enough to have had two school trips this week.  The first one being to RAF Boulmer.  We were very well looked after by Flt Lt Seb Donley who began our tour of Boulmer with a visit to the Phantom aircraft.  The children were amazed how big it was in comparison to themselves.  We then moved to the Officer’s Mess where Seb gave us a brief history of flight.  He showed us pictures of different aircrafts throughout history and explained to us how they have evolved.  After a short break and a snack we met the STEM team at Boulmer who talked us through making rockets.  We spent some time making our rockets and decorating them before heading outside onto the field to test them out.  There was a buzz in the air from the children as they eagerly awaited their turn to test.  The children were gobsmacked with how high they went as none of them had predicted they would go that high.  I think we all agreed that we had a fantastic morning at Boulmer thanks to Flt Lt Seb.  Also thanks to Mrs G for driving the minibus.

Our second trip of the week was on Thursday to Alnwick Playhouse.  Whilst at the playhouse we looked around the library at all the brilliant books they have there.  The children chose their favourite one and read it to their friends.  We also did a scavenger hunt where we had to find a range of Julia Donaldson character hidden around the library.  We then played a game of pin the belt on Supertato!  This was fun.  After we had looked around the library we went and had story time with Jodi.  Jodi read us story called Stompysaurus.  This was a book about feelings and helped us to understand how to cope with overwhelming feelings and frustrations.  Back at school we made a fortune teller to help us pick something to do when we are feeling overwhelmed.

We also had some promotions in Big Maths this week.  These were for WILLIAM, ELISE, ARCHIE, ROSIE BE, EMILY H and double promotion for JOSEPH.  Well done to everyone.

Have a lovely weekend
