This week our story has been ‘Immi’ by Karin Littlewood. In the story an Inuit girl called Immi finds a wooden bird at the end of her fishing line, and every day after that she discovers something new, until her igloo is the brightest thing in the land. But where are these mysterious gifts coming from, and who is sending them? At the end of the story we discover that far away a little boy on a hot sunny beach is throwing treasures into the sea.

We had a good week with six children completing all their Rainbow Challenges and gold challenge – well done!
In RWInc the Reception children have read the pink ditty book ‘The Greedy Green Gremlin’ and have been learning the sound ‘ear’. Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘r’ and have been playing initial sound and rhyming games. The other nursery children have been learning about police officers and have been playing speaking and listening games and activities related to this.
In maths the Reception children have been learning about sharing. The nursery children have been counting on and back starting at different numbers. Some nursery children have been learning about rectangles and triangles.
In PSHE this half term we are learning about ‘My Wellbeing’. This week we have been thinking about being kind and what kind things people have done to us. We discussed how it makes us feel when people are kind to us. In Science this week we have been learning about different types of fruit. Our music theme is ‘Big Band’ and this week we have been learning about following the beat. It was quite tricky to do!
Our big RE question this half term is ‘Why is the word ‘God’ special to Christians?’. This week thought about how Christians show thanks for food. We learnt about the festival of harvest.
This week Mrs Cotton has turned our roleplay area into a pizza shop. It has been so much fun. We have loved wearing the chefs hat and pretending to make pizzas and putting them in our pizza oven.
Starfish star of the week was Lucuis. He is always willing to get involved in our activities and tasks and shows enthusiasm.
Next week we will continue with our story ‘Immi’ by Karin Littlewood.
