What a busy and exciting week we’ve had!

In English, we began planning our own traditional tales by thinking about how we could change elements of Jack and the Beanstalk. We brainstormed ideas in groups and as a class, coming up with some wonderfully creative twists and new characters. The children are really enjoying the chance to make the story their own.

In maths, we explored weighing in grams. Everyone had the opportunity to hold and compare different weights, helping them understand and feel the differences. It was a very practical session that really brought the concept to life.

In geography, we revisited what it’s like to live in a cold climate, thinking about how it compares to where we live. We also looked at the equator and located it on both the world map and the globe, helping us understand how location affects climate.

In music, we started composing our own short pieces in groups, using the beats and rhythms we’ve been learning in previous lessons. It was lovely to see the children working together, experimenting with sound, and developing their sense of timing and teamwork.

In computing, we explored how different lighting can affect a photograph. We then put our learning into practice during a beach session, experimenting with angles and shadows to see how it changed the look of our pictures.

Wednesday was a highlight of the week—our wonderful sports day! It was fantastic to have all the children together enjoying the events and lovely to see so many families there to support. A huge well done to everyone who took part—you all did brilliantly!

On Thursday, we had a special Design and Technology day focused on healthy eating and balanced diets. The children designed and made their own wraps as a final product. We practised our grating and chopping skills, tasted a variety of ingredients, and rated and described the flavours. It was a deliciously fun learning experience!

We ended the week with a fantastic beach session on Friday. Mrs B led a rock pooling activity where we explored the shoreline and searched for items on our spotter sheets. We found sea anemones, small fish, crabs, and so much more. The children were full of excitement and curiosity—it was a brilliant way to round off the week.

BIG MATHS promotions this week went to JOSEPH and ANNA.  Well done to you both.

Star of the week went to ARCHIE, well done.

Have a lovely weekend
