19th January 2024

This week, in Maths, we began looking at shape.  We went on a shape hunt around the classroom and discussed our findings.  We named both 2D and 3D shapes and looked at their properties.

In English we took a look at some of the illustrations from the beginning of the book.  We discussed what these illustrations might tell us about what the story might be about.  We began to read the story and met Albert.  We also met his new ‘pet’ – the Potato.  We also discussed what the Pet Potato might say to Albert after He left him abandoned on the side table.

In PE we began our dance unit.  We are doing some winter dancing; we pretended we were snowflakes and tried to move in a way in which they would.  Next week we are going to add these movements to music.

In Art, we were looking at the work of Judith Scott.  She was an artist who worked with fibers and wrapped them around objects.  This was called wool wrapping.  We decided to recreate her work.  We traced around our initial letter stencil on some card then cut it out.  We then used wool and wrapped it round our letter.  They turned out brilliantly and all children concentrated hard until they had finished.

In RE we looked at the first pillar of Islam – Shahadah.  This is the belief in Allah as the one true God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week was chosen by Mrs Threlfall and went to Liam – Well Done!  Keep up the hard work.

BIG MATHS promotions this week go to WILLIAM and PENNY.  Super stars – Well Done.

Have a good weekend.
