This week our book of the week was ‘Oi Frog!’.  This is a rhyming book where Cats sit on mats, fleas sit on peas, lions sit on irons, parrots sit on carrots but Frog does not want to sit on a log. We loved our story this week!

Our Rainbow Challenges this week have been related to this book:

Writing – Write labels for the animals

Maths –  Make a cake for a snake to sit on

Funky Fingers –Balance the moles on the poles

Construction – Make a chair for a hare, a stool for a mule and a sofa for a gophers

Creative – Weave a mat for a cat

Outside – Find a log for the frog

We did a great job of completing our challenges this week.

This week we went into the hall to do PE.   We thought about the different animals in our book this week and we travelled in the ways the animals would move.  We slithered like snakes, jumped like hares, fleas and frogs, flapped our arms for wings like parrots and storks.  There were lots of animals that moved in lots of different ways.

In the book the weasel sits on an easel and uses oil paints.  In the classroom we use powder paints so we didn’t know what oil paints were.  We looked at the different tubes that they come in and the different colours and then had a go at painting our oil painting.  We needed to be very careful that we didn’t get any on our clothes.

On Thursday Trinity Tots came into Starfish class.  It has been a long time since they came to visit (before Covid) so it was lovely to be able to show them everything in our classroom.  Mrs Popay and Mrs Cotton could remember when some of us came to visit Starfish class when we went to Trinity Tots!

On Friday the Reception children had the chance to ride some bikes.  Graham from Bikeability came into school and brought some balance bikes, bikes and helmets for us to use.  We all had a go and some of us were even able to ride a proper bike!

Next week our story will be ‘Wake Up Time on Bumble Farm’.
