19th November 2017
We have had another busy week - Year 1 parent lunches, flu vaccinations and Open the Book, to name a but a few!

Thank you so much to all who baked, ate and donated for the Toddler Group Children in Need Cake Stall.  The proceeds from that, together with the donations for the Spotty Hat Parade, raised an excellent £78 for Children in Need.

On Friday we also had a visit from Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP, as part of UK Parliament Week, which Class 2 have been taking part in.  The Chair of Governors and I had a good discussion about the importance of maintaining schools in rural communities and Early Years funding, amongst other things.  She was then grilled by Class 2, who asked questions such as, 'if the suffragettes were campaigning now, how do you think they would get their message out?' and 'do people ever lose their temper when they are debating?'  The children told her about the debating they had been doing in class, and the amazing interactive tour of the Houses of Parliament they had done on the ipads.  She was very interested in all that the class had learnt, and even told them some secrets about Theresa May!

This week Class 2 are going on a visit to the Alnwick Playhouse as part of their science topic of light on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday it is Year 4 parent lunches - please make sure you tell Melissa if you would like a meal.

On Friday the photographer is coming in to take school photographs in the morning.  Look out for a separate email from Melissa with further details.
