Spring 2 Week 1

This week in Orca Class the children have been exploring deforestation, in English we are planning to write a letter to the Brazilian Embassy to persuade them to help prevent the destruction to the rainforests. In Geography we have been investigating the effects of deforestation to the climate and the importance of the rainforest to our world and produced a persuasive poster.

It was World Book Day this week, the children were given the task to turn a paper plate into a character from a traditional tale, in Orca class we had a lot of pigs but also Goldilocks, Big Bad Wolf, Cat from the Owl and the Pussy Cat, Red Riding Hood, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, Paddington and Kotyoroshko – from a Ukrainian tale.

In maths we have begun looking at fractions both improper and mixed number fractions and also simplifying.

Just a note that next Wednesday – 8th of March – Orca class will not be going down to the beach as we are taking part in an Adventure to the Amazon. So, it will be normal school uniforms all week.

Year 6 had their first SATs club this week which included biscuits and juice – which went down very well! SATs club will continue every Monday 3-4 until the SATs in May.

Congratulations to our Star of the Week Lottie who worked really hard in Maths.

We also won the TTRS competition again!

I hope everyone has managed ok with their spellings on Ed Shed this week, if you need any help please let me know.
