All school meals are cooked daily on the premises and served in the hall. Children will receive a two course meal; vegetarian or special diet meals can be arranged. Please contact the cook in the school kitchen if you would like to organise either vegetarian or special diet meals for your child at lunch time. The cook is available to discuss any dietary requirements. The menus meet the school food standards.
Children are encouraged to take fresh vegetables, and to try all the foods on offer. Fresh fruit is always available as an alternative to the main sweet. Children are encouraged to use the correct cutlery and use good table manners. Lunchtime supervisory staff supervise the children at lunch time.
Parents, and other members of the community are regularly invited in to share our meals.
The menu for the week is displayed in the school foyer and on the school website.
Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free school meal through the Governments Universal Free School Meal Offer. For children in Key Stage 2 and nursery the payment for school dinners should be made on the first day of the week. Money should be sent in a named purse or envelope and handed in to the office. All cheques for dinner money should be made payable to Embleton Primary School. School lunches cost:
Nursery £1.20 Key Stage 2 £2.20 Parent Lunch £3.50 Community Lunch (includes tea/coffee) £4.00
On a Friday, when the children are at the beach, they will be given either chicken goujons, pizza or sausage rolls. These will be supplemented by hot chips from Dunstanburgh Golf Club. Pudding will consist of a home-made biscuit, cake or muffin.
Packed lunches are also eaten in the hall. As a healthy school we do not allow fizzy drinks, chocolate, chocolate-covered biscuits, chocolate-filled sandwiches, or sweets. All packed lunches should contain at least one item of fruit/vegetable. Please do not send a drink in with your child - we can provide a drink of water.
