Well, I am exhausted! What a fantastic turnout for the North of England Children's Cancer Research Run, especially from the younger children. Almost half the school took part. Well done to everyone! Please make sure that any sponsor money and forms are handed in to the office at the earliest opportunity. Thank you also to Caroline's family for hosting a lovely post-run BBQ.
What a busy week we have had.
Year 6 SATS came and went. It was good fun sharing some time together before school for breakfast, everyone did their best in the tests, and now we can get back on with the rest of our learning.
We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Trinity Tots in Starfish class. It was lovely to show off our amazing environment and share toys. It was also good to see all our Starfish regulars teaching the younger children our expectations in and around the classroom. Thank you to all the Trinity Tots that came, and we look forward to hosting you again next half-term.
Our new Schools Safeguarding Liaison Officer, from the Operation Encompass team at Northumbria Police, came to look round the school earlier in the week. You should be receiving a letter about some work that she is going to be starting to do in school.
Well done to Miss Thompson for completing her training to be a Key Stage 2 maths marker - despite having to spend her weekend in Leeds doing the training, I know that she feels it was worth it, to help our children negotiate the idiosyncrasies of the SATS papers.
This week is the last week before half-term. Miss Thompson is out for 2 days starting some Thrive training (supporting the social and emotional needs of the children) on Monday and Tuesday, so I will be working with the Orcas. Tuesday is parent lunch - if you can't remember if you have signed up or not please speak to Melissa. On Thursday Mrs Popay is out doing some training on Islam and Judaism, and I will be covering for her in Starfish class.
On Thursday Orcas are going to Alnwick Castle as part of their work on being British. Please ensure children come in in school uniform, with a backpack and water bottle. Packed lunches can be provided by school - just let us know if you would like one. If the weather is likely to be sunny please put suncream in their bags.
On Friday we are back down to the beach for our last beach school before half-term.
