This week in Seal Class we have been very busy, we have finished off our science topic this term. The children should all now know about the Digestive System, our diet and why it is important to have vitamins and minerals, and about food chains and the natural cycle. We have learnt through a range of experiments, discussions and investigations, which I am sure the children have all thoroughly enjoyed. We have continued our learning about The Romans. We looked at Archaeologists and what they do to find out about history. Through this, we learnt it's quite difficult and it takes a lot of time and patience to find things and that some objects may be broken, which means they need careful consideration. We also looked at what sources can tell us about what happened and what we can deduce from the source, however, we still had questions left unanswered. Which is also part of being a historian.
In maths, this week we continued to look at multiplication. We covered multiplying and dividing by 100 and multiplying by 0 and 1.
In English, we have continued our poetry unit, which focused on writing different forms of poetry. We looked at Kennings and Tanka Poems and wrote our own. The children chose what to write their Tanka Poems on and there were some interesting concepts that arose from this.
In computing this week, we had a live zoom video call. We learnt all about the different features you can use and managed to write some beautiful poems in different groups by doing it over Zoom. We were very lucky to have Miss King, who is working with us on Tuesdays to support us and it's always lovely to have an extra set of hands to help with technological issues.
You will all be receiving a sheet about Go Read, it is a digital reading log that will record when the children have read in school, at home and by themselves. You will be able to see all the books that the children are currently reading both in school and at home. It will be sent out this week. All children should have a reading book that is book banded at home to read and a library book (unless you are a free reader). If not, please do let me know.

Class Dojo Sense of the Week is Thomas W. Congratulations!
Star Writer for the Week is Mabel. Well done!
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
Miss Scott
