18th November 2018
We had a good week focussing on the anti-bullying them of 'Respect', with children working in class to explore the themes and think about individual rights, together with what bullying is and does to others.  Thankfully it is not an issue in our school, but hopefully we are helping to equip our children more fully for life beyond Embleton.

Years 1 to 5 have been having a great time at Willowburn on Thursdays, with Year 2-5 doing bouldering, and Year 1s doing freestyle gymnastics.  It is great to see the children mixing with those from Branton as we work with another small school to foster wider friendships.  Meanwhile, Mrs Threlfall and the Year 6s are starting to get to grips with yoga, and finding/rediscovering muscles that have not been used too much recently!  PE at Beach School this half term sees Puffins working on kicking, passing and dribbling ball skills; whilst Orcas are doing cross-country running.  Their run this week was 1.26 miles - and everyone, including Miss Thompson, seemed to enjoy it... and had very rosy cheeks!

We were really lucky this week as Ms Fentiman came in to doing some singing practice with her.  She has kindly offered to come in more regularly to play the piano and help learn some songs and hymns for all the events coming up as we approach Christmas.  It makes a real difference having a great piano and singing teacher to help us.

On Tuesday next week Starfish, as part of their theme of transport, are going on the bus to Craster.  We are looking forward to paying for our tickets ourselves.  When we are there we will have a look in the RNLI shed at the lifeboat, and look at some of the fishing boats, and other vessels in the harbour.  Thank you very much to Thomas' grandad for agreeing to open up for us.  We will be back before lunchtime.

On Wednesday we are looking forward to Open the Book coming in again, to share more Bible stories with us.  It is also Parent Lunch on Wednesday - please make sure that you sign up with Melissa if you haven't already done so.

Don't forget on Thursday that it is individual school photographs.  If you have a younger sibling and would like them to have a photo too please bring them in at 10.30.  We will try and keep everyone clean and tidy until after the photos!!
