14th January 2022

This week we have carried on looking at money.  We have been making amounts in many different ways.  The Year 2s have been trying to make amounts using a limited number of coins.  Great problem solving skills!

In English we looked at the key features of a non-chronological report and what their function was.  We then wrote some questions that we thought we might be able to answer from the non-chronological reports.  Next week we are going to begin to plan and write our own  non-chronological report.

We took another look at road safety in PSHE.  We looked at all the different kinds of crossings; zebra, puffin, pelican and toucan, and what was the same and what was different about them.  I wonder if you can spot some different crossings when you are out and about?

In computing this week we talked about pictograms.  We talked about what they are, what they are used for, then made our own using favourite colours.  After that we collected some data in a tally chart and turned it into a pictogram using the J2E program.  We had so much fun.

In RE we found out about the Prophet Muhammad and why he is important to Muslims.   We thought about leaders and what makes a good leader.  We decided that a good leader is someone that you look up to and sets a good example.  We learnt that Muhammed is so special to Muslims that when they talk about him and say his name they always say ‘Peace Be Upon Him’ after saying his name.  We heard the story of Muhammad and the Cat and thought about the difference this story might make to how a Muslim might live their life.  We then acted out the story.

In our topic lesson this week we tried to locate Africa on a world map.  Some of us knew which continent was Africa. We then talked about Africa being close the the equator and what this meant.  We talked about all the different climates in Africa such as; desert, rainforest and jungle.  We can't wait to find out more about these.

Promotion goes to ELLA for her learn its this week too - well done Ella!  Super work.

Have a good weekend.
