We have had another lovely week in Puffin class.

In maths we have been learning all about capacity and volume, in year 2 we even started to learn about measuring the volume in millilitres. In English we had spent lots of time learning the story map for  “How to trap a dragon” and have started to plan our own version of the text, by choosing our own animals. In Art we began to sketch some beautiful shells that we collected on the beach. There were some very detailed drawings which presented the child’s observations. In History we were looking into castle life. We talked about what banquets are, what people would eat and the entertainment for the evening. We then pretended that we had been invited to a banquet by Lord or Lady Percy and wrote a letter to say thank you. In Friday’s PE session we spent some more time learning to throw the ball under arm and catch it, with a partner. We are getting much better. In PSHE we talked about the feeling of anger, we talked about what it is and what we can do to help ourselves, when we feel angry.

We also had a lovely trip to Dunstanburgh Castle on Thursday morning. It was very interesting to see how different it was to Alnwick Castle. The children did an amazing job with the walking and we even made in back in time for lunch!

On Thursday afternoon, in DT, we investigated sticking techniques further.  We were tasked by Miss Murray to find the most effective way of attaching our towers we made last week to a base.  We investigated using masking tape, sellotape, pva glue and a glue stick.

Big Maths promotions this week go to INDIE, AMALIA, POLLY, CAMERON and OSCAR!  Well done to you on your promotions and also big well done to everyone else for lots of scores beaten!  Hard work is paying off.

Well done for another super week Puffins.
