First full week back at school and what a week we have had! It has been lovely to see all the children coming in excited to be learning. This week we have started our science topic which is all about The Digestive System. We were able to label the different parts and explain their role. We were able to quiz ourselves when we made our own video about The Digestive System on the beach. Arthur made a great scientific narrator as he explained the different parts, however, it was such a windy day on the beach that it overpowered him in the video. We also spent Tuesday afternoon in the playground sketching Motifs as part of our pattern work for the half-term. The children produced some lovely artwork using the playground as their stimulus. On Wednesday, we spent some time on the computers logging into school 360 and google classroom and then did some PSHE work with Miss Thompson. We all had a very interesting morning with Mrs Threlfall on Thursday looking at Mediterranean Europe and Pompeii and even found some links to Pirates.
This week in English, we have been writing a sensory description based on the story 'Escape from Pompeii'. This book ties in quite nicely with The Romans, which is our history topic for the term. The children were very curious about the mountain that rumbled and at Beach School, we used the book to help us write our own poems.
This week's CLASS DOJO SENSE was Arthur. Congratulations! All the children are working very hard to earn their DOJOs. We have had a total of 200 given out this week, so well done everyone!
Just a few reminders for you all, children can bring a healthy snack in for break time and if they would like a snack at Beach School, please feel free to pack a piece of fruit. Homework for Seal Class is accessible on Google Classroom and will be set on the same day every week, which will be a Wednesday. A reading book for home will also be given on a Wednesday.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend,
