Our first full week back at school has been very busy!  We have worked really hard in Puffin class!
We started our class story for the next few weeks which is Funnybones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.  We talked about some of the other stories that these authors have wrote.  I think a firm favourite was the Jolly Postman, although some children did enjoy Each Peach, Pear Plum.  We drew a story map to help us retell the story of Funnybones and thought about some adjectives to describe the cellar.
We also did some phonics and handwriting practice this week.  Some of us are learning how to form letters in order to be ready to do joined up handwriting.  It was very exciting!
In Maths we were looking at place value.  Making sure we know how to represent numbers in a variety of different ways, and knowing the value of each digit.
We began drawing a self portrait - it's not as easy as you think!  We had to learn where to correctly place our eyes and nose in relation to our ears.  We are going to carry on perfecting our techniques before you all see the finished article!
We enjoyed our first yoga session - I was very impressed with the children's concentration during the session.  They really focused their minds and engaged well with the moves.  We had some lovely dolphin poses and some super crab poses.  The part we liked most was the relaxation part at the end.  I hope no one fell asleep!
I am going to be setting the children's homework on Google classroom.  You should have all had an email with the details on how to get onto it by now.  If you are still unsure - do please get in touch.  There will be some spellings to have a look at and a piece of work to complete.  Again, any questions do please ask.
Have a lovely restful weekend,
See you on Monday
Miss Murray
