First week back to school and it has flown. It was lovely to hear what the children had been getting up to in their holidays. We have finished our maths unit looking at multiplication and division where we learnt how to multiply 3 digits by 1 and how to divide using a range of methods. We learnt how to use the bus stop method for division, which some found interesting as it cannot be used for any of the other four operations. We started looking at The Iron Man for our text this half-term. We focused on the first few pages and looked at the importance of punctuating writing correctly as Miss Scott had to read so fast without taking a breath as there were no full stops on the first page. We then read the first 3 pages with our eyes closed so that we could fully immerse ourselves into the story. The louder the crash, the more the children were surprised. We started our new PSHE unit looking at compassion, which is one of the school's values. We looked at what compassion means and what compassion can look like. In science, we started our new unit of electricity where we looked at why it is important to be safe around electricity and what can happen if you aren't. We also celebrated World Book Day the theme was Julia Donaldson. We read a range of her stories, read at random times, had a World Book Day quiz, played The Masked Reader and made our own. We then finished off with a randomiser story based on The Gruffalo and The Snail.
